Wholesale prices for beef in the US showed an upward trend for the week
As of September 18, 2020, according to the USDA, Choice category beef increased in price by $ 0.59. Select meat was trading $ 0.55 higher, lowering the Choice / Select price leverage to $ 11.70. Over the week, the price tag for livestock increased (+ 2.5% on average), as did the cost of livestock in slaughter weight (+ 1.4%).
The volume of beef production for the week increased by 12.6% due to the increase in the slaughter of livestock; on an annualized basis, beef production for the reporting period fell by 0.7%, also due to a decrease in slaughter compared to last year (-2.4%), but the drop in slaughter was partially compensated for by a slight increase in weight indicators.
